Subrata Gangopadhyay is widely considered one of India’s leading modern realist painters. Born in Kolkata in 1959, he graduated in 1980 from the Government College of Art and Craft. His skills as a virtuoso draftsman were honed as Senior Artist of the Ananda Bazar Group of publications. His lines and figures are characterized by a lively and life-like quality, which has been a major factor to his success and popularity.
Subrata’s artworks, created on oil and acrylic canvases, are full of color, movement and vibrancy. From swirling hues to vivid, colorful figures, his artistic vision comes alive in every piece.
